I have become a cliche

I'm pretty sure I was lying down when I took this.

Somehow I managed to miss National Donut Day. Luckily there's still time to catch Fudge Day on the 16th. (June is brought to you by Weight Watchers.)

Truth be told, I've never liked fudge much. Granted, my sole encounters with the stuff were during our annual trips to Silver Dollar City. One's palate can't exactly be trusted at 10. (All I remember is being shocked by the sweet - which is saying a lot, coming from a kid who used to eat Nestle Quik straight from the can.) But it always looks so tempting, like undercooked brownies. (Dude, when's THAT day?) I'm tempted to make some from scratch to see if I like it better as an adult. Maybe I'll find a way to add kale to it.

Feeling a little stagnant with the writing lately. Since I practically single-parent it during daylight hours, once baby's down for the night I am DONE. I have plenty of time after 7 (well, I would if I turned off So You Think You Can Dance) but I'm always too wiped to summon the creative. I know, I know, J.K. Rowling wrote "Harry Potter" during her daughter's naps (I'm pretty sure she drugged her) but man, were you all this tired when your kids were small?

Sorry to piss on your parade, but I have found that the tired after the kids are in bed still exists when they are 11 and 8 years of age.

I keep waiting to"grow out of it."

This past Christmas my mom made fudge from a packaged mix that was the best damn fudge I have ever eaten.I think it was Carnation brand or something. I love me some fudge. Whenever we go to one of those touristy tacky outlet malls where I find name brand kids clothes at garage sale prices, I have to stop at the obligatory fudge factory and indulge. Chocolate peanut butter is my favorite.

I'm not a fudge-fan either. I blame it on having grown up in Europe and thus not developing a taste for it as a kid. I have adapted to liking PB&J though :)

As for being tired after the end of the day. Yup. Lately, our little one has pushed her bed time, so now it's about 8.30pm before I get time to do anything ... and it's tiring. But also nice not to have to hurry to get her dinner as soon as I get home from work, we finally have time for a family meal. Well worth it. Hang in there!

Yes.

Tired. So tired.

This is why rich people hire nannies. So the NANNIES can be tired!

BTW, I (surprise!) have a fantastic recipe for fudge. Not so sweet it kills you. Yum!

I always think I'm going to like fudge. Then I don't... Same with mushrooms.

Alisha, I'm still tired, but am not sure if it's because of my kids or my job or the fact that I'm getting older. Maybe all three!
