I'm still too nervous to flush the toilet though. (It's really loud.)

I'm totally courting the jinxing gods by writing this, but my son has been asleep - in his crib - for 57 minutes now.

Where's Guinness, because this is a freaking world record.

What's more? For the past two nights Will has slept like a human. We've gone from absolute hysteria for hours on end to less than five minutes of half-hearted protests and then out like a light. We lay him down, he rolls on his stomach, and sleeps for - get this - 9 to 10 hours. Solid. He still wakes up at 4 am but now we just pull him into bed. And you know, it's not that bad. He nurses for a few minutes and then buries himself in my armpit and conks out. (Ah, the soothing scent of deodorant.) Want to know our secret? Getting him really drowsy. I mean reallllllly drowsy. He's still technically awake when we do the transfer - he always opens his eyes - but he's pretty close to the edge when we put him down. I hear him self-soothing at various points throughout the night so I know he can do it... That's not cheating, right? (Cheating, schmeeting! He's a-freaking-sleep!)

1 hour, 15 minutes. And counting.

I am so glad to hear that Will is sleeping for you. I was always truly greatful that my two wee ones slept well from the begining. Next thing to watchout for is him sleeping in your bed. While mine may have slept through the night, I didn't get a good night's sleep for almost four years because I let the little angels sleep in my bed. It is amazing how much space such a little body can take up, and four in a king size bed is still four in a bed. Once I was able to break my need to have them by my side 24/7 and then break their need to be by my side 24/7 we all got some sleep and had such better personalities.
By the way just have to say what a cutie!!

Yeeee-Haaaawwww! That is awesome!

Hopefully you have turned the corner.

Now having said that, it was my experience that once that corner was turned, the majority of the time all was good, but we did have periods of time when things were off. We found that if you just stick to the routine, then things even out eventually. I hope that the same goes for Will.

Once the routine is down, hopefully he will adjust the routine accordingly and wake a little later, or if he naps better, maybe you can adjust his down for the night routine to a bit later so that he is not up so early.

Honestly once mine were sleeping long stretches, if there was early waking I just kept 'em bed with me too 'cause it was easier, kind of nice, and I got more sleep.

Hope this lasts. I am keeping all appendages crossed.
